We will perform 4 sets of 27 sun salutations (series A) with breaks in between. We will focus on clearing out negative energy and inviting in a new, fresh perspective through intention setting, gratitude and embodiment. Open to the public

Come join Leanna for an inversion-filled afternoon!
 
This workshop will break down the basics of hand-balancing and inversions, within the realm of yoga. We will look at some strength building exercises, the specifics of alignment and anatomy within inversions, and then build on different inversion variations, including arm balances, forearm balance, headstand, and handstand.

BrainDance Yoga Workshop with Gail Abrams Sat, Feb 17, 2018 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

BrainDance is a series of eight developmental movement patterns that babies move through in their first year of life.
 
These patterns wire the central nervous system so that the brain can operate at its optimal potential. BrainDance patterns are essential for efficient and well-integrated movement (all human movement) and are the building blocks for the more complex movement we do throughout our lives. In this workshop we will learn the 8 BrainDance movement patterns and then build a yoga practice based on them.
 
A handout will also be provided that explains each pattern and its benefits, as well as a catalogue of various asanas that fit into each pattern. Benefits of BrainDance and incorporating it into Yoga: ~ reorganizes the central nervous system ~ warms up and aligns the body ~ promotes focus and concentration ~ develops eye tracking ~ relieves stress

Deconstructing the Stretch: Facts and Myths with Gail Abrams Sat, Feb 24, 2018 at 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join Gail for a workshop in which we will explore exactly what “Stretching” is.
 
Some of the questions we will discuss include: What is stretching? What tissues do we want to stretch, and what tissues should NOT be stretched? What is the relationship between warming up and stretching? How can we get a maximal stretch, and when in our practice should this take place? What is reciprocal innervation and how can we use it to enhance our stretch? This will not be a yoga practice per se. We will apply what we learn about stretching to various asanas, but this workshop also has applications to other physical activities such as sports, dance, and other movement practices.
