Teacher Training

THE FOLLOWING CURRICULUM REQUIREMENTS ARE STRONGLY EMPHASIZED

 
  • Commitment to the entire program
  • Practice meditation or pranayama daily
  • Practice asana daily
  • Daily journal writing to record above practice
  • One research paper: due 8th weekend (topics assigned first weekend)
  • Attend 2-3 different level Yoga classes between each weekend and write up evaluations
  • Required textbooks + additional reading means lots of reading!!
  • Assisting in Yoga classes
 
 
PREREQUISITES: MINIMUM OF 2 YEARS OF A CONSISTENT VINYASA PRACTICE.

We offer a comprehensive training that brings together the best of the yogic tradition from both east and west. The Teacher Training faculty is looking to guide serious students, aspiring teachers, and current teachers to unlock their potential and transform their lives.
ELECTIVES

These hours will be divided among the following categories and will involved research, practice, study and assignments.

TRAINING AND TECHNIQUES

You will learn the techniques and the proper alignment to teach asana, pranayama, meditation and other yoga techniques, developing the skills to teach the techniques. You will also practice the sequences you are learning to teach.

YOGA PHILOSOPHY, LIFESTYLES, ETHICS

You will learn the history of yoga and you will study the eight fold-path of yoga as taught by Patanjali. You will study the lifestyle of the yogi and basic Sanskrit. You will learn the basics of a meditation practice and ethics of a yoga teacher.

PRACTICUM

Under the observation of accomplished yoga teachers, you will be evaluated and given feedback on your delivery of basic yoga techniques.

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

As well as learning basic yoga techniques, you will learn and practice teaching assists and correcting, the observation skills of a yoga teacher and how to demonstrate to the students the techniques you are teaching.

ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

In the classroom environment, you will learn about the anatomy and physiology of the human body, including the bones, joints, muscles, and bodily systems. You will also learn the anatomy of the subtle body.
